How to Deter Mice
- Sprinkle mint leaves in the garden.
- Don’t mulch perennials until a few frosts have occurred.
- To repel mice, plant wormwood near vegetables.
- Encourage owls and snakes.
- Make gravel barriers around garden plots at least 6”- 8” deep and 12” wide. This prevents rodents from tunneling and, if kept free from weeds, from crossing the area.
- For strawberries, wait to mulch until mice have made winter homes elsewhere. Mulch after the ground has developed a frosty crust.
